to love somebody

TO LOVE SOMEBODY (Bee Gees)

There's a light
A certain kind of light
That never shone on me
I want my life to lived with you
Lived with you
There's a way everybody say
To do each and every little thing
But what does it bring
If I ain't got you, ain't got ?
You don't know what it's like, baby
You don't know what it's like

To love somebody
To love somebody
To love somebody
The way I love you

There's brain
I see your face again
I know my frame of mind
You ain't got to be so blind
And I'm blind, so very blind
I'm a man, can't you see
What I am
I live and breathe for you
But what good does it do
If I ain't got you, ain't got ?

how is the weather???

In England, people usually say "How is the weather?" just to know how bad or good the person is. It's because the weather in England is really changeable so that they (people in England) use this phrase. I learned this phrase from my lecturer who is in charge in Cross-Cultural Understanding B (CCU B) course at Sanata Dharma University. He is Antonius Herujiyanto, Ph.D. He is so funny lecturer. The way he delivers the course is so smooth so that everyone attended the class can be involved fully without exception. On that course I learn about how to understand culture across the world especially in western and eastern (eastern is related to Indonesia) area.

Today's topic was about the common things which Indonesian usually do in their daily life. Those things are cultural things, therefore, there are absolutely good. At this topic we tried to find reasons behind those things. For example, Indonesian might enter a room without knocking on the door. How could it happen? It's because historically people in Indonesia were living in the house which were no private room for each person and of course, there was no door in the house. Indonesian were living in the house which was no door inside so that everyone slept in one big bedroom, called amben. There was only one room from for the head of the family (grandpa and grandma or mom and dad) called senthong. That room was restricted at night because "something" was happening at night which was really private.

That example was only one thing I learned. I imagine that this semester will be so fun in learning CCU B. It is not only the materials that I will have learned but also the situation which is really enriching and empowering me to learn more outside the class.

Now, I do realize that learning English language is not complete if we don't have a thorough understanding of the culture behind it. Yeah, I'm really on the way studying it. I'm really serious because English is a gateway to the world.
